Writing as a Safe Place

I’ve always been fascinated by people who can easily compose brilliant thoughts as they come to mind—people who can express themselves well and speak articulately. One of my insecurities is not being able to do that, not knowing what to say or how to say it. I joke about it, like in the lyrics of a song:
“Don’t know what to do
Whenever you are near
Don’t know what to say.”
Because of that insecurity, I learned to write. Not because I wanted to be a writer, but because I wanted a way to express the things I couldn’t say out loud. Along the way, I discovered three important things about writing—for me, it helps me become a better version of myself, gives me a sense of freedom, and creates a safe place where I can truly be me.
Writing doesn’t require brilliance. All it takes is a pen, a piece of paper, a clear mind, and a heart willing to bless others with what you write.
